Bayside Historical Preservation Society

The Bayside Historical Preservation Society (BHPS) was founded to preserve Bayside history by documenting many diverse family stories, conserving artifacts, and highlighting architecture (including some of the most excellent examples of coastal Victorian and Edwardian era cottages in mid-coast Maine) that illustrate the village’s rich history.

Members, volunteers, and donors support the historical society’s mission to preserve the heritage and spirit of Bayside.

In 2003, the historical society opened a museum on Pleasant Street – Shady Grove – in an original Bayside cottage that dates to the 1880s. Shady Grove is open to the public on Sundays during the summer.
